Welcome to Purple Mat Yoga
Our philosophy is centered on on the belief that yoga is for everyone no matter what the walk in life, current physical abilities, or mental state.
We strive to give our best efforts to use the ancient techniques of yoga to help you transform your body and mind one health-enhancing breath and stretch at a time.
Purple Mat Yoga was born of the love and effort of Odalis Recchia and her passion for yoga. After seeing the transformation the practice of yoga gave to her own body and mind she decided to share yoga with others.
Odalis Recchia graduated from Ramapo College’s Yoga Certification Program with 200 hours RYT. She also attended Young Mountain Yoga Children’s Certification Program CYRT.
She continues to attend workshops in all aspects of yoga, and, in addition, she is a Reiki master, personal trainer, and also certified in Thai foot reflexology and Thai yoga massage.
After carrying her heavy bags of yoga supplies to children’s after-school yoga classes in Rockland County public schools and to locations in Bergen County, NJ, and with the enthusiastic support of her family and faithful students, she decided to take a leap of faith and Purple Mat Yoga studio was born.
